Certification is available for facilitators and the
facilities that support the volunteers who
want to be part of the grassroots effort to expand the outreach of Making
Tired Eyes Smile®. Certification is a way to not only enhance the
consistency in facilitating a circle of friends, but also to create a network
of facilitators to mentor others. There are two levels of certification.
Level 1
A certified facilitator would be able to:
- Submit lesson plans, stories,
‘readings’, chapters in a prescribed form for sale
- Receive 80% net revenues on
these sales
- Authorship is credited on all submissions
The requirements for certification include:
- Read Making Tired Eyes Smile®
- Facilitate a circle of friends
for twenty-four lesson plans at the same facility
- Submit a sample for each of the
activities introduced in the guide
- Provide feedback on the guide
- Complete an application form
documenting the facilitator’s circle experiences
- Write a lesson plan
- Provide two letters of
recommendation from the facility
- Provide a letter of
recommendation from a family member of one of the friends
The cost for certification:$45
Who should apply for certification?
Facilitators and the communities that support
them who have a natural affinity for the philosophy expressed in Making
Tired Eyes Smile® are encouraged to become certified. The
certification would appeal to those who are naturally drawn to the mission
statement: to wholly acknowledge those who are slipping into invisibility.
Level 2
A level 2 certified facilitator would be able to:
- Train other
facilitators
- Share
$5 per participant with LaRee and retain the balance of the training fees
collected
- Speak to
community groups
- Mentor others
- Speak for a fee on Making
Tired Eyes Smile®
- Retain 90% on these fees
The requirements for certification include:
- Complete
level 1
- Teach six
training sessions capturing evaluations from the participants
- Give three
free community service presentations obtaining testimonials
- Submit 12
bundled lesson plans (The celebration bundle is an example)
- Receive 90% on these sales
- Authorship is credited on all
submissions
- Introduce
another language arts skill to the network

Who should apply for certification?
Facilitators who are successful within a circle of
friends and would like to be instrumental in extending the number of circles.
Facilitators who like to expand the perception of the disease.
